Alessio Vittori Studio crafted the lighting design for Barlume, enhancing the spatial narrative envisioned by Studio Cristell. Nestled in a historic Flatiron-adjacent landmark, Barlume’s atmosphere is shaped by a careful interplay of light and shadow, evoking both the elegance of Mediterranean warmth and the raw authenticity of New York’s past.
In the main dining area, refined illumination highlights the interplay of rich textures and materials, subtly reinforcing the venue’s homage to early modern eateries. The glow is inviting yet dynamic, echoing the cultural fluidity that defines Barlume’s identity.
Descending into the lounge, the lighting transforms to embrace the hidden underbelly of the city—accentuating the raw brick footings and intricate ceiling conduits while soft glows immerse guests in an intimate, tactile experience. Alessio Vittori Studio’s approach ensures that every detail, from lush textiles to historic architectural layers, is revealed in perfect harmony, crafting a luminous journey that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
